Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice For September 16th

Washington Nationals v Philadelphia Phillies

There’s plenty of money out there tonight as there’s a lot of great playoff baseball, and if your ready to get in the action on a great one-day fantasy league to try and win some quick cash, here’s some tips and advice.

First off, here’s a list of the Picks tonight for Draft Kings and their salary cap value:

Best MLB DraftKings Picks for September 16
Pos. Player Opponent Salary
P Jake Arrieta Pittsburgh $14,000
P Bartolo Colon Miami $8,100
C Miguel Montero Pittsburgh $3,100
1B Eric Hosmer Cleveland $3,700
2B Chase Utley Colorado $3,000
3B Freddy Galvis Washington $3,000
SS Starlin Castro Pittsburgh $2,800
OF Bryce Harper Philadelphia $5,900
OF Ryan Raburn Kansas City $2,400
OF Jacoby Ellsbury Tampa Bay $3,400

Pitchers: Personally I think for the money, Bartolo Colon is a solid play tonight. He’s going against the Marlins tonight at home, and is 14-11 on the season. He went 6.2 in his last outing, allowing two runs on 7 hits back on 9/11. If you wanna spend big on Jake Arrieta, but Colon is a much cheaper value and could pay off if you can only pick one pitcher.

Catcher: Indians catcher Yan Gomes has hit safely in his last four, including a pair of hits last night.  He’s super cheap ($2300) and could have a big night against Danny Duffy.

1B: Two bad pitchers tonight in the Arizona-San Diego game (Andrew Cashner 5-15 vs Robbie Ray 4-11) so I like DBacks 1B Paul Goldschmidt to have a solid night at the plate.  Drew 3 walks last night and I can see at least 2 hits tonight with a chance for more against Cashner.

2B: Chase Utley had plenty of shots last night, going 1-for-6 in a game against the Rockies.  He’s 2-for-15 in the last 3 days, so it’s a stretch to think he’ll do much here, but he’s a decent option given the price.

3B: Draft Kings likes Freddy Galvis, but if you can spare $600 I would go with Manny Machado, who was 2-for-5 with a HR and two RBI on Tuesday night.  He seems in a zone right now with two homers in his last five days.

SS: Ian Desmond has cooled off after hitting safely in 12 of 15 games, but he’s up against the Phillies who have Alec Asher going who is 0-3 with an ERA over 10.  A safe bet to think Desmond will produce tonight.

OF: Bryce Harper has been on a tear the last two days with 24 points, including two homers last night.  If you can afford him, grab him.  Ben Zobrist has been good in the leadoff spot for the Royals, and almost hit another HR last night in the first inning.  He’s $3800 but again, can pay off.  A cheap OF option tonight is Tigers OF Anthony Gose, who has been getting consistent playing time, and has hit safely in his last seven games.
