What We Learned Thursday Night

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES 14 @ SEATTLE SEAHAWKS 31

EAGLES: Hit the eject button on the Eagles season as the spark Vince Young lit against the Giants has faded. Young allowed 21 points off 3 of his 4 interceptions though they weren’t all his fault. A tipped pass by Riley Cooper in the third which bounced into the hands of the defender. Most of his errors were simply poor decisions on balls which he should have never thrown. Young finished with only 208 yards and one score to go with the picks, a night he would like to forget as fast as fans will forget him once Vick returns. The main thing here is how this clubhouse has fallen apart and fractured to where it is obvious there are teams within the team. Desean Jacksonignored Young on the sideline but was content talking to other players so it’s possible Young may have not been too happy about the three dropped passes last week and let it be known. Now is the time to snatch Desean if you are in a keeper or dynasty league. He will most likely be with another team next season so pounce while his value is low. At this point the team is headed for a major overhaul so the experiment didn’t work out as planned. Lesean McCoy has been the only bright spot all season and had another game where he carried the offense. His 133 yards and 2 touchdowns accounted for all the Eagles points and about 35% of their offense. With his workload the franchise is on borrowed time and will need to turn it around this off season.

SEAHAWKS: If you were not a believer in Marshawn Lynch (like me) then you should be now. Lynch has now scored in 8 straight games and was reminiscent of the back we saw in Buffalo. Lynch danced and jetted his way to 148 yards with 2 touchdowns. While the credit equally is shared for the stellar play of the offensive line which opened gaping holes for him, Lynch has finally evolved to the back Seattle planned on getting when they signed him. While this team may indeed make the playoffs, they won’t last long. Tavaris Jacksonand the pass attack continue to be bailed out by Lynch who opens the field for them. Lynch finished with 190 yards with one touchdown in what has been the normal type of stat line for him this season. In this offense there is not a trustworthy receiver you can feel good about being in your lineup. Tavaris simply is happy to get the ball out of his hands and complete a pass. The defense also deserves credit for their successes with their opportunistic play. They have excelled at taking advantage of mistakes and making opposing offenses pay for them.
