Week 7 Monday Night Football Review

BALTIMORE: The Ravens have continued to struggle on the road and Flacco is still a work in progress. He is a solid reserve, but you most likely drafted him as your starter and could have worse on your bench. The next time he has a productive game I would sell high for a lesser name like Andy Dalton and another player you need to round out your squad. Fantasy players buy into name value even in down years so you could walk away with a steal. Ray Rice had an off day (28 rush yards), but expect him to continue carrying this team. As Flacco goes so does Anquan Boldin. Boldin is a safer play due to his high amount of targets. Boldin makes the most of his catches and Flacco leans on him. Despite the loss, the Ravens Defense is once again an elite unit after a down year last season. Torrey Smith did exit late in the 4th quarter with what looked like a shoulder injury. Keep an eye on the severity, though you really shouldn’t have him in as anything more than a reserve.

JACKSONVILLE: If you can find better options for a reserve, dump Blaine Gabbert. While Gabbert was the victim of dropped passes and was facing the Baltimore defense, he has been inept all year and will not help you win a game. Maybe this win will spark something in him but I still would be very scared. Somebody like Curtis Painter is a far better choice. Painter should be available in most your leagues and has proven to be more consistent and serviceable. MJD may have had a crazy three fumble night, but don’t lower your value on him. He was up against one of the better defensive fronts and still managed to grind out over 100 yards. If anything, I think he looks as healthy as we have seen him and his numbers should continue to improve from here. There are really no receivers you can trust on this team as they are being hurt by Gabbert’s poor play. Deji Karim showed some flashes of ability this game and should be on your squad if you own Drew.

OTHER NEWS: We also learned today that both Tim Hightower and Earnest Graham are done for the season. Willis McGahee did have surgery on his broken hand and is expect to miss at least two games. Santana Moss must have had a more severe break, as he is expected to miss 5-7 weeks. Matt Stafford is being called “day to day” but was seen with a boot on his leg. We saw the same from Bradford and he was unavailable for two weeks. Suddenly, the Cinderella team is running to their pumpkin.
