Week 4 Players Worth Starting

Heading into week 4, I have had some fortune in my leagues. I am 3-0, 2-1, and 2-1. However, some fantasy owners have not had the same success that I have. This week is the first for those falling behind to get back in the game. Let’s take a look at my must starts at each position for this upcoming week.

Eli Manning, NYG (@ARI)- The Giants are on the road this week, heading to the west coast to play the Arizona Cardinals. Manning should be set for a good week, as Cam Newton torched this defense in the first week of the season.  The Giants offense should be able to continue their momentum, and Manning will be at the center of it. I do not expect 400 yards passing, but Manning will still be a viable fantasy option.

Running Backs:

Chris Johnson, TEN (@CLE)- Chris Johnson has been a big disappointment thus far in the 2011 season. However, this is the week for CJ2K to bounce back. In his only game against Cleveland, he has 166 total yards, 136 of those being on the ground. This will be the type of game fantasy owners have been expecting from Johnson, and he should not disappoint.

Cedric Benson, CIN (vs. BUF)- The Bengals will be hosting the Bills, in what could be a trap game for the Bills. Buffalo is 3-0, but their rush defense ranks 24th, giving up 115.7 yards per game. Benson will be relied on to take pressure off of Andy Dalton and the defense. With the weak defense, Benson has the chance to go over 100 yards rushing, and could have a touchdown. Start him if you have him.

Wide Receivers:

Santana Moss, WAS (@ STL)- The Redskins will travel to St. Louis to play against the winless Rams. The Rams secondary was torched last week by Torrey Smith, and will be in for another long week with Moss coming to town. Moss has had a very solid year so far, and will continue that this week. Expect big things.

Vincent Jackson, SD (vs. MIA)- The Chargers offense did not perform as well as they should have last week against the Chiefs. However, with a weak Miami secondary coming to town this week, San Diego has a chance to make up for that. Rivers will be looking Jackson’s way more now that Gates is out for this week. Jackson has the potential to have a huge week.

Tight Ends:

Vernon Davis, SF (@ PHI)- Starting tight ends against the Eagles is something I try to do when I have the chance. The Rams offense has struggled and the Giants offense does not center around the tight end, so neither of those teams had big numbers from that position. However, Tony Gonzalez had a very good game, posting 7 catches for 83 yards and a touchdown. Vernon Davis should put up similar numbers, putting him in position to have a very good week.

Tampa Bay DST (vs. IND)- This week will be the first start for Curtis Painter in his career. Tampa did a good job against the Atlanta offense, and should not have any issues against the Colts offense. Start Tampa if you have them.
