Flukie’s Value Fantasy Players Week 3

Its been a tough 3 weeks for me in fantasy. I’m 2-1, 2-1, and 1-2. That is just my teams not the ones I’m paid to manage (hence why my blogging slowed I now have paying customers). After 3 weeks of fantasy football the crap bubbles to the surface. Here are the players that have suddenly made it to fantasy football relevance.

Torrey Smith – Holy Hanna. I didn’t see this one coming. Sure I covered him as a rookie to watch but he burst onto the scene in a big way. His first 3 catches were 3 TDs— you would think that is some kind of NFL record? He ended the day with 5 catches for 152 yards. Opportunity is how players make it in the NFL. Just ask Tom Brady and on a much smaller scale Denarius Moore. I’m not sure Smith can keep this up but there is no doubt that he adds a speed element to the Ravens O. Could he be the Brandon Lloyd of 2011?

Denarius Moore – My boy Denarius. I have been on his jock since August 9th. Even against the J-E-T-S he was able to put up 16 points. Granted, it was great coaching by Hue Jackson to do a reverse which got him an amazing rushing TD. He fully extended to break the plane of the endzone. Moore is the most athletic WR on Oakland. There is no doubt that he will remain an integral part of the O as the season continues.

Kendall HunterAs Robert Edgcomb wrote previously I’m a big fan of this “Westbrook” type back. Frank Gore tweaked his ankle and he may not be able to play against the Eagles week 4. As we all know injuries are what gives rookies a chance to sink or swim. With the sad state of the Eagles run defense Hunter could have a real juicy week. I’m a big proponent of grabbing Hunter off waivers and giving him a spot start. The Eagles are HORRIFIC against the run. Just look at Ahmad Bradshaws numbers this week — 86 running yards, 53 receiving yards, and 1 TD. Bonus: Kendall Hunter can catch as well.

Vince Young – Mikey Vick broke his hand. With that injury goes many fantasy football players season. Most folks reached up into the first round for good ole Vick. Now, all you can hope for is that Vick is back by week 7. Mike Kafka is so poor that I don’t even think the UFL would sign him. That leaves last man standing Vince Young. Young has been to a Pro Bowl. He is the protoypical Andy Reid QB who can move in the pocket. Haha, it’s not like he has much of a choice. The Eagles Offensive Line is as bad as it gets. Howard Mudd came out of retirement to work with a bunch of stiffs. Young will be a hot pickup this week. Though with the injury to Maclin and his backup Riley Cooper I wonder how effective Young will be. He better get his running shoes on.

Steve Smith PHL – He is back from microfracture surgery ahead of schedule. This is a lucky break for the Eagles. Smith will start this week opposite of Desean Jackson. He may put up respectable WR2 numbers this week. Especially because SF is stronger against the run then the pass. I’m not drinking the Kool Aid unless your desperate at WR…
