Mike Tolberts Shines… Ryan Matthews the Slob… Scrub called Leonard Hankerson

As I beat the fantasy football research drum a few topics come shining through. Ryan Matthews  is a fat slob. He came to camp out of shape and that has forced Norv Turner to change his mojo and go with the two RB system. Don’t believe me? Read Chargers Gab and LesterLegends. What does this mean to you? Stay away from Ryan Matthews. If he is fat and out of shape now that just increases his injury risk in season. He has a poor track record to start with.

However, this increases Mike Tolbert’s  value. Mike Tolbert’s 2010 campaign:  735 yards rushing, 11 TDs, and the unfortunate 5 fumbles. He also caught 25 balls for 216 yards. He isn’t a shifty runner and does have parallels to the Bus. It is a safe assumption that Tolbert is the upside back in SD this year. Mostly likely he will break 1200 yard and have 15 TDs. This type of production from a player you can draft in round 6 is impressive. The average fantasy player will still think Matthews is the better back and this will cause them to reach way too early in classic drafts.

I’m known for my sleeper WRs and I may have uncovered another – Leonard Hankerson. Redskins Gab believes he has the inside track to beat out Donte Stallworth for a spot on the roster. Mr Hankerson is 6’2 and 205lbs. He is a good size and bit thick. They claim he has decent speed so this may give the carosel of rotating QBs – Sexy Rexy and Beck – another body to throw too.

On a side note Anthony Armstrong’s  route running has improved. Granted, I don’t think Armstrong or Leonard Hankerson are worth anything but deep fliers in a classic draft they both may be diamonds in the rough.

  1. Jonesy says:

    Most likely will have 15 TD’s? That’s a little over-zealous of you, I’d say.

  2. The Fantasy Flukie says:

Ahhh Jonesy. This is the time of year to make those balls out predictions. 4 more TDs then last year is overzealous? Nah…..

  3. The Fantasy Flukie says:

But Houston throws the ball a ton at the goaline. SD tends to pound at the goal line…. Its all good Jonesy…we can agree to disagree. Besides, I write this stuff to get a reaction…. looks like it worked 🙂

  4. […] I’m sure most of you have drafted a backup caliber RB. Some examples would be Mike Tolbert (click here to see my Tolbert predictions), Beanie Wells, Ahmad Bradshaw, or a Tim Hightower (click here for my Hightower prediction). You […]
