Sidney Rice = Disaster in Seattle. Other WR Signings Of Note

This is laughable. Seattle has officially lost their marbles. Sidney Rice  has signed a 5 year 41 million dollar deal. The kicker? His QB is his old buddy Tavaris Jackson. Of course that is assuming that he can beat out Whitehurst for the job! All the hope I had for the Rice-McNabb connection has died. Sidney Rice falls into tier 2 category. An ineffective QB hurts a stud WR. The only hope Rice has is if Seattle plays from behind all year. At least that would give him fantasy points in garbage time. Carroll does believe STRONGLY in the pass with his college pedigree. However, I wish him luck implementing that in the NFL. Seattle fans – just accept that beating the Saints last year was the high point of the Carroll era.

Steve Breaston to KC. Interesting. Breaston is one of those WRs that gave me a hard on only to watch it go limp. He did put up 47 catches, 700+ yards, and 1 TD in an injury shortened season. The year before he had 55 catches and 700 yards as well. His glory year was 2008 (and Kurt Warner) where he produced 77 catches, 1000 yards, and 3 TDs. He will have a solid year in KC and will help Matt Cassel be successful. Ken Whisenhunt knows whats up. Coming from Arizona he understands Breaston. This is perhaps the best signing I have seen on the WR front (with the exception of the NYJ resigning Santonio Holmes). I would look to target Breaston in the mid to late rounds of a traditional draft.

Another signing I love is Donte Stallworth to the Redskins. Looks like Mike Shanahan is starting to get his way. Albert Haynesworth is on the move to New England and Donovan McNabb has left for Minnesota. Daniel Snyder was smart enough to resign a 90 catch receiver in Santana Moss. Since the competition on the Redskin WR core is weak there is no doubt that Stallworth will line up opposite of Moss. This gives Rex Grossman a much better opportunity for success. The Grossman-Stallworth connection will be something to watch…that is if Stallworth’s hamstring doesn’t come  up lame!

Did you just write, “the Grossman-Stallworth connection will be something to watch..” ????

Ahh. Jonesy….it does look pretty funny in print. However, I’m feeling the Rexy a lil bit. Look at his stable of receivers? Stallworth, Moss, and now Gaffney. Knowing that Mike and Kyle Shanahan are offensive genious I wonder if they know something we don’t. You heard it here first, Grossman may just may be a QB worth owning in fantasy 2011. I could see Matt Casselish numbers – 3000 yards and 25 TDs – I know it seems insane, but it is just a gut call.
