3B Waiver Wire Replacements

Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez originally injured his right knee turning back to third base on a passed ball June 19th in a game in Chicago. An MRI last Friday revealed a slight tear in the meniscus of that right knee and on Sunday Dr. Lee Kaplan  of  THE University of Miami recommended that A-Rod go under the knife to repair the injury. Yankees manager Joe Girardi said on Sunday that, if Rodriguez opted for surgery, which he has, undergoing the procedure now would be ideal given the Yankees will have four days off during the All-Star break. The surgery will send A-Rod to the DL for 4-6 weeks, crippling fantasy teams everywhere. Despite Alex Rodriguez’s current 85-at-bat homerless streak, which is the longest single-season drought of his career, Alex is still batting a decent .295 with 53 runs, 13 HR, 52 RBI and and OBP of .366.

Rodriguez had this to say after Saturday’s win against the Rays: “It’s hard to get into missing 20, 30, 40 games when you don’t know, but at the same time you don’t want to limp toward the finish line. The most important games are played at the end.”

For the next month and more these 5 third baseman will be worthy fantasy replacements for the Yanks injured star:
