The Screwmasters of Fantasy Football – The Minnesota Vikings

I received a text from a good fantasy buddy of mine– “Believe it or not AP isn’t playing tonight.” For sure I thought my man was mistaken. The Vikings know how to stick it in the a** of fantasy football players all across America. Of all the weeks the fantasy playoffs? In the game that leads you to the promised land? Ya got to be kidding me?!?!

Not only did AP screw us so did Brett “the texter” Favre. A miraculous miracle happened and he woke up today and felt like he could play. Yea, and I felt like I could run the NY Marathon. Give me a break. WE all know that is complete and total BS. Leslie Frazier knew on Saturday Favre was gonna play and that they were gonna hold AP out. This was a complete and total mind f***. It is all too convenient that the “field is unplayable” to the “photos” taken by Vikings players. That set the stage to sit out AP. Hell, I don’t blame them. Who wants to lose their star RB because of poor turf in a meaningless game in sub zero weather? For the Vikings it was a smart call. For the fantasy football public it was a storm of colossal proportions.

I personally did not suffer. Based on the data I collected and the numerous pieces I read I benched AP. I feel bad for the general fantasy player who “trusted” the experts and “couldn’t bench their stud” AP. I’m sure there are thousands of AP owners who got shafted today and I look forward to hearing from you. I got lucky this week and I started Blount over AP. I wish I could say it is a stroke of genius but it is just dumb luck with an educated tilt. Leave it to AP to screw the fantasy football industry. Not gonna lie boys I’m holding a grudge about this one. I will not own AP next year. I’d rather gamble on a Darren McFadden and his injury concerns. At least he manned up this week and produced.

How about the Joe Webb debacle? Heck, how many blogs did I read this week recommending Joe Webb as a flex play in Yahoo leagues? Granted, Webb did get in, but Favre did EVERYTHING in his power to screw that up too. There is one thing in fantasy football I have learned to accept- the unexpected and the unexplainable… This Vikings Monday Night game screwed many a pooch and I feel whole -heartidly bad for those folks that lost money due to this train wreck.

I survived and made it to the Fantasy Superbowl in two of my leagues. So for sure I’ll be back for this FINAL week of fantasy and all of my insane thoughts and predictions. If you got screwed tonight feel free to do a Tom Coughlin- go lie in your room for 2 hours and sulk. You might just might feel better after all….then again maybe not. Tom Coughlin still has something to play for!

In WFL the best team by far lost by 1.7 because of no AP. I also won by 2 points because I took out Rice and put in Toby as my flex

  2. The Fantasy Flukie says:

Nicely played Jay. I will be playing Toby as well if AP tries to screw the pooch again. I feel so bad for all those folks who got f’d by AP…many teams that should be there aren’t there
