Some Week 10 Fantasy Winners/Losers

Some Week 14 Fantasy Winners

Darren McFadden – The Oakland running back had one of the games of the season, rushing 16 times for 123 yards and 2 scores, while netting 3 receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown. That’s a combined 209 yards and 3 touchdowns for the 3rd year back. His performance was improved by two big plays: a 67 yard catch-and-run TD in the first quarter, and a 51 yard rushing touchdown in the third. Fellow Raiders QB Jason Campbell (21/30, 324 yards, 2 TD) and WR Louis Murphy (6 receptions, 59 yards, TD) also scored big, but the day belonged to Jacksonville. Ably led by QB David Garrard (11/22, 159 yards, 3 TD, INT, 5 rushes, 32 yards), the Jags overpowered Oakland with their power running game. Maurice Jones-Drew scored big with 23 attempts for 101 yards and a score along with 3 receptions for 19 yards, and second-year back Rashad Jennings had his third consecutive week with a scoring touchdown, rushing 5 times for 109 yards and the 74-yard touchdown. Jacksonville TE Marcedes Lewis caught 4 passes for 57 yards and a touchdown.
Michael Turner – When your running back is up against the Carolina Panthers, you can expect a nice score, and this week Turner the Burner delivered, torching Carolina for 112 yards on 28 carries and 3 touchdowns. Panthers RB Mike Goodson also found the endzone, rushing 9 times for 70 yards and a TD.
DeSean Jackson – The Philly speedster’s 201 yards was a career high, and he did it on just 4 receptions. He was helped by his touchdown, which came at the end of a 91 yard catch-and-run to break the fourth-quarter deadlock. Eagles QB Mike Vick also scored high, completing 16 of 26 for 270 yards, 2 scores and 2 picks. On top of that he added 8 rushes for 16 yards and a score. RB LeSean McCoy rushed for 149 yards on 16 carries, but was held without a score. On the other side of the ball, Dallas QB Jon Kitna completed 24 of 35 for 242 yards, 2 scores and 2 picks. Both touchdown passes went to TE Jason Witten, who caught 7 passes for 69 yards.
Andre Johnson – ‘Dre went ballistic Monday night, catching 9 passes for 140 yards and 2 scores, including one from 46 yards out. Quarterback Matt Schaub threw 62 times, completing 31 passes for 393 yards, 3 touchdowns and 2 picks. The other score went to fourth year wide receiver Jacoby Jones, who had 5 grabs for 52 yards and the touchdown. Tight end Owen Daniels also had 91 yards through the air. Arian Foster managed 100 yards on 20 carries, but didn’t score and lost a fumble. For the opposing Baltimore Ravens, quarterback Joe Flacco completed 22 of 33 for 235 yards, 2 touchdowns and no picks. Both touchdowns went to Derrick Mason, who had 6 receptions for 78 yards. While running back Ray Rice didn’t have a touchdown, he did gain 120 total yards on 27 combined touches.
Tom Brady – Blizzard-like conditions were no match for the Patriots’ passing game this week, and it was quarterback Tom Brady who led the way, as he ended with 27 completions from 40 attempts, 369 yards and 2 scores. 31-year-old wideout Deion Branch was the biggest beneficiary of Brady’s game, turning 8 receptions into 151 yards and a touchdown. His touchdown came on a 59 yard pass with no time left in the first half. The other passing TD went to tight end Rob Gronkowski, who turned 5 grabs into 43 yards and the score. Receiver Wes Welker also performed well, turning 8 into 115 yards.
Alex Smith – After being put back in the spotlight thanks to some poor performances from QB Tim Smith, Alex Smith put together 17 completions from 27 attempts and 3 touchdowns against the Seahawks. Benefiting nicely from Smith’s big day were running back Brian Westbrook (6 receptions for 87 yards, TD, 9 rushes, 23 yards), tight end Vernon Davis (5 receptions, 70 yards, TD) and WR Josh Morgan (3 receptions, 82 yards, TD). For the Seahawks, wide receivers Ruvell Martin (73 yards, TD) and Deon Butler (68 yards, TD) scored well in fantasy.
Jay Feeley – It’s not often you see a kicker on a fantasy winners chart. But on top of his 4 extra points, Feeley kicked field goals from the 23, 36, 48, 49 and 55 (bonus points ahoy!). If that wasn’t enough, he scored a 5 yard rushing touchdown on a trick play in the second quarter. If that’s still not enough for you, he also had a solo tackle. Now there’s a fantasy winner.
Some Week 14 Fantasy Losers
Kyle Orton – When you lose to Arizona, it hasn’t been a good day. When you lose to Arizona 43-13, it’s been tremendously poor. And that’s what Orton was Sunday. Tremendously poor. Orton completed 19 of 41 passes for 166 yards and 3 interceptions. He also lost a fumble. Usually terrific receiver Brandon Lloyd only managed to pilfer 32 yards from the fray.
Adrian Peterson – It was the first week in most fantasy football leagues’ playoffs, so there were probably a fair few people relying on a big performance from All Day. They did not get one. Peterson rushed for just 26 yards and no scores as the Vikes were pummelled by the Giants.
