Raheem’s Blount

Raheem must have been smokin a Blount when he realized he had more then one Blount….LaGarette Blount! I blogged this past week that I wasn’t sure Blount was for real. Especially after the Kareem “Huggy Bear” hype fiasco. I said he showed potential against Pitt but I never thought he would do this. Look at as stat line against Arizona (let’s not forget it WAS Arizona) – 25 fantasy points, 120 yards rushing, 2 TDs, 2 catches, and 1 fumble. These are some impressive numbers. I’m not going to say that Blount is a stone cold lock to start next week but he isn’t a bad play. You know my motto play aggresive and play the hot hand. If your nervous just smoke the Blount….and make sure Raheem Morris appoints him the starter.

Fantasy sports is all about the hot read and LaGarrete Blount will be the hot waiver wire pickup going into this week 9. Especially for those players that have Ryan Torain who came up lame and limp this week with a hammy. Keiland Williams took over for Torain so he will also be thrust back into the fantasy spot light 🙂

Atlanta gives up 95 yards on the ground so Blount will get more of a test next week. He did run well against Pitt and performed fantastic (except for that fumble) against Arizona. I would feel confident to give him a RB2 designation going into week 9. Tampa Bay is on a role this year and a team in which no one looked to for fantasy now has tons of value. Mike Williams is a WR3, LaGarrette Blount is a RB2, Josh Freeman is a low QB1/high QB2, and Kellen Winslow is a low TE1. Goes to show that from year to year teams can turn the corner in the NFL.

I’m rolling with Josh Freeman the rest of the year as my starting QB in fantasy. This shows the confidence I have in him and the Bucs roster top to bottom.
