Don’t Overlook these Basketball Players

So this is my first foray into fantasy basketball. Be kind. Still looking for basketball writers so if anyone is interested let me know.

Nicholas Batum is looking like a valuable fantasy player. In his first two games he is averaging 17 points. He is owned in 80% of sportsline leagues. If he is still out there grab him. If he is on your bench start him. He is playing 5 games next week. That is a scheduling advantage if I ever saw one.

If you were like myself and thought Danilo Gallinari was going to break out your annoyed about now. He was benched this week because of his poor play. Gallinari will tell you its his wrist…Doubtful since D’Antoni confirms our worst fears- its his play.

OJ Mayo has looked good early. This is a good sign for those that reached for Mayo in the draft. He is averaging 19 points a game and 2 assists per game.

Francisco Garcia is a guard worth looking at. As you all know I am the editor for kingsgab so I watch a ton of Sacramento ball. Garcia started one game this week (bc Tyreke was suspended). Even though he comes off the bench he is averaging 15 PPG and 2 APG. He is still playing 27 minutes a game. The team runs thru Garcia when he is on the floor. I could see his role expanding as the year goes on. I’m not convinced Udrich holds onto the starting 2 guard spot.

Landry Field is a rookie SF/G for the Knicks. I don’t know much about him other then the fact he put up 78 fantasy points this week. He is averaging 11 points per game. Who knows if his numbers will last. I can’t figure out what the Knicks are doing of late but Mr Field may be part of the plan.

Shelden Williams a SF for the Nuggets and is playing due to Kenyon Martin and Big Bird Chris Anderson being injured. He had 11 boards Friday and has rebounding potential (averaging 11 RPG). He may not score a ton (though he is averaging 7 PPG in this young season).

Ronny Turiaf gets a honorable mention but I wouldn’t go picking him up just yet as he is dealing with a back injury and coming off the bench. His points and RPG are weak at the moment but he is averaging 2.7 BPG. Just watch and see if his role develops with the Knicks.
