Ride the Trends not the Names in FFball

Playing fantasy football I have learned one thing. You have to be the first to spot the trends and adapt to it. This year’s trend was the value of the WR. In the NFL RBBC is now the norm. So one could find a RB later in the draft or off waivers once the season began. WRs were and still are harder to find. The trend now is identifying the hot read at QB.

I was that guy. You know the guy. The Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Peyton Manning guy. I would reach a bit higher then most and love having the most productive QB in the league. The times have changed.

As AC Slater (a reader) wants to all to know he believe Ryan Fitzpatrick is for real. I have to say this he has been the man the last three weeks. But Ryan Fitzpatrick isn’t the only one. Kyle Orton, Michael Vick, and Josh Freeman started the year as waiver wire fodder. This weeks waiver wire pickup is Jon Kitna. I FIRMLY believe that he is going to perform well against Jacksonville. Heck, even Matt Cassel has performed at a fantasy stud potential the last 2 weeks.

For those of you in a keeper league the times of paying for the great QB is coming to an end. The only “great” that has held up his end of the bargin going into week 8 is Peyton Manning. Half of the season is over and Brees and Brady are busts. If you own either of those two players I urge you to move them in a trade or at least put them on the bench and grab a Kitna, Freeman, and possibly a Cassel off waivers. I’m not saying NEVER start Brady and Brees. I’m just saying change your tact and go into a matchup play. Brees is struggling without a running game and Brady isn’t the same Brady. The Brady trend started last year and has been amplified with the loss of Moss.

I’m here to show you the way. For those of you in redrafts realize it is time to learn the new emerging stars that will lead you to a fantasy championship. The Double B’s are has beens and Freeman, Orton, Vick, Fitzpatrick are your new stars.

  1. Robert says:

good call on time to trade Brady in keeper league while his perceived value is high.

  2. The Fantasy Flukie says:

true that. I really think Brady will fall into tier 2 by next year…
