Max Hall QB Waiver Wire Play of the Week

The waiver wire is getting sketchy for QB’s with the various bye weeks and injuries. Max Hall being announced the starter in Arizona is a breath of fresh air. He looked good in mop up duty against SD last week. Ken Whisenhunt has said he is the best QB on his staff. I’m not gonna lie…. I don’t know much about him. Bottom Line- he has to be better then a cut Matt Leinhart and an inconsistent Derek Anderson. If Max Hall knows what is good for him he will get the ball to Fitz. At least chuck the ball up there and let Fitz attempt to make a play- ala Brett Favre. Favre has done that throughout his carer (most recently with Sidney Rice). Now Favre has one of the best WR in football to throw to in Randy Moss. Mr Hall look at Favre and follow his example. Throw the ball up and let Fitzy run! Run Fitzy Run!

Another side effect of this starting QB change is the added benefit for Stephen Williams. Williams is a undrafted free agent who has been thrust into the starting #2 WR role due to Doucet and Breaston’s injuries. Hall and Williams played on the scout team all during camp. They have a rapport with one another and he will throw to Williams when in trouble. I’m making some assumptions and a bit of a gut call but I feel that Williams is startable this week.

There will be a larger dose of Hightower and Wells this week against New Orleans. New Orleans defense has not been stellar this year. Whisenhunt is a smart coach and will run a great deal to keep the pressure of Hall. Granted, if they fall behind early this plan will have to change. I see multiple RB sets at least in the first half. Hightower will be in the game as a safety valve for Hall. Especially since Hightower is so involved in the passing game. Wells cried wolf this week and confronted Whisenhunt about playing time. It seems they are “happy, happy, joy, joy” with one another and that Wells will see much of the football this week. Wells is a startable RB this week and Hightower is a borderline flex play. Audience take Hightower with a grain of salt. I have been hit or miss with recommending him this year. I personally am not playing him but you may be able to sneak out another Hightower play this week. If you remember what I wrote earlier in the year I said Whisenhunt would use Hightower early and Wells late in the season. Hightower’s value maybe extended due to the change in QB.

This may sound insane but I think that Arizona has a shot at beating New Orleans this week. It look like Pierre Thomas is not going to play again and this makes the Saints dangerously one dimensional. This will allow the Arizona D to key up on the pass. Ivory and Betts just don’t put fear into anyone. If you are desperate for a RB play this week you might be lucky and Ivory might squeeze you out a TD if he can keep his hands on the rock (he seems to be having some fumbling issues).

in keeper/dynasty leagues I still feel that Skelton takes over the QB position in the next yr or so. The guy is very raw right now but his upside is huge. He has all the tools and is a physical freak (6-5 240). Hall is more polished right now, but I do not believe he is the long term answer in Az.

With all these RB injuries I think it is time to bring back an updated “Runningback Handculf Heircy” Can you please get Pollock to update it.

@JS – I have read a bit about Skelton but I really dont know much bout him. You might be right and I might be crazy but your not the one I thought I was looking for….hahah i digress… Skelton may be what you say. I just don’t know…. for this week if you are decimated at QB Hall is worth a one week wonder. Especially if you play in a 2 QB league

@AC – Who knows when Seth Pollock will be back. Good writers are hard to find….especially at the pathetic salary we offer…

@AC – you know you can buy Seth a beer on the right hand side of this page….Beers typically inspire writers…

  5. AC Slater says:

Hey Fluckie what do you think of Jake Delholme this week?

  6. JS says:

yes, not doubt for this week and most likely all this year Hall is the guy there.

  7. JS says:

Keep your eye on Skelton’s progression though.

@AC- Delhomme is a bad play this week. His limited mobility will make him a sack target. However his return is great for Mossaquoi who has fallen into the fantasy graveyard.

@JS- I’ll watch Skelton.. I’m looking for a QB for next yr in my keeper league…I just dont think it’s gonna be Skelton… For next year I’m feeling Freeman….though i cant get my hands on him someone has him in that league already…

@AC- sure buy him a beer on this website and I’ll buy him the expresso myself!
