Deep Sleeper Fantasy Football Starts

Blair White / Mike Hart- I didn’t have a clue who White was until he caught a TD last week. He is a rookie WR elevated from the practice squad on the pass happy Colts! He only had 3 catches for 27 last week but I see those numbers improving against a PATHETIC Jacksonville secondary. Peyton Manning is amazing because he makes rookie WRs look good. Since Garcon and Gonzo are out the ball has to go somewhere. Indy also has problems with the run. Looks like Addai will be a game time decision and Brown is already out. Mike Hart has a shot at starting. Even if Addai goes he will be limited. It might be a pair of unknowns that help lead the Colts to victory. I may gamble and start Blair White if Andre Johnson can’t go. AJ’s game is a 4pm game so that leaves my options of potential subs short. Blair White might be thrust into my starting lineup.

Ken Darby – SJAX’s looks doubtful to play so this opens up the door for Darby. If your limping at RB Darby is a serviceable option. Don’t expect high rushing numbers because Seattle is actually pretty good against the run (top 10). However if STL gets down to the 1 yard line Darby will be the one punching it in.

Johnnie Lee Higgins – I do NOT recommend starting him. With Oakland’s WR core decimated with injuries Higgins may be the last man standing. Murphy is questionable with an injured collarbone and Hey-Bey is questionable with a groin injury. Higgins may become fantasy relevant if these injuries continue to linger. The good news for Oakland is that Schilens may be back by week 7. The sad fact is that it will most likely be too late to save the season.

Chris Ivory – Most people should have heard of him by now. An unrestricted free agent that made the Saints roster even after injuring himself in the preseason and missing the first 2 weeks. With Pierre Thomas looking like a game time decision Ivory may be the RB waiver start of the week. I know they are saying that Betts is starting. Betts will split carries with Ivory… doubt. Ivory is the more effective runner. I see more of a 60/40 split in favor of Ivory. Odds are Ivory will get the opportunity at the goal line.

Stephen Williams – a rookie WR in Arizona. In past years (with Warner at QB) I would say start the rookie no matter who he is. However with Anderson in AZ the decision is murkier. Bottom Line – Breaston and Doucet are hurt. That leaves Fitzgerald and Williams as the starting WRs. Arizona is playing SD and they will be forced to throw the ball to stay in the game. Williams may have a respectable day. When it comes to the rookies I still lean towards White in Indy but Williams isn’t that far behind. Both of those players are worth pickups in deep leagues.
