Ryan Torain? Only A Shanahan Shenanigan?

Ryan Torain- seriously? I love Mike Shanahan. He will go down as one of my all time favorite coaches (with the exception of GruDog).  Only Mr. Shanahan can pull a RB who didn’t even play in the NFL last year into fantasy relevance. Torain ran for 46 yards on 7 carries (he outrushed Portis by 2 yards). As everyone was hot to pickup Keiland Williams off waivers Shanahan was prepping Torain as the split back with Portis. With Portis’s injury history I believe this is a sign of things to come. Especially since they are playing Philly this week. Philly’s D is up and down. They stuffed MJD but allowed Best to run all over them. So Shanahan may be playing chicken this week and go with a RBBC hoping that the hot back may break one.

You can never trust a RB in the Shanahan system but Torain has experience with Shanahan RBBC philosophy. I don’t believe he will be a superstar but he may be worth a roster spot in deeper leagues. He may fill a fantasy role like Lynell Hamilton last year. He may be a legit spot start when Portis goes down. If we know anything we know Shanahan is unpredictable. That being said he is also loyal to those that follow him and Torain is only 24. Who knows what the cards will hold for this journeyman RB. As everyone is going for Ken Darby on waivers this week I will be waiting at 2am to grab Torain as a drop/add and preserve my waiver position for when the NEXT HOT player comes along.
