Navigating the Injuries for Week 4

Wow. That is all I have to say about all the RB injuries this week. First off, I apologize about my Fred Taylor recommendation. However, there is no way I could have anticipated his injury. It looks like Benjarvus Green-Ellis is now the relevant NE back. Though, to be frank, I am so sick of the NE rotation that I’m no longer endorsing picking up any of their RB’s.

Kenneth Darby looks like the best RB off waivers this week. I’m picking him up in the league where I lost Jahvid Best as a spot start. Darby is going against Seattle who isn’t great against the run. STL is feeling good after beating DMac (or should I say DLittle) and the Skins. STL could beat SEA this week and square their record at 2-2. STL has been good to me this year off waivers. I grabbed Clayton and he has turned into an every week starter. Early reports about SJAX say that he has a torn muscle in his groin. If that is true then Darby could also turn into an every week starter.

It stinks that Jahvid Best plays for the Lions. Only reason I say this is because the Lions are shadier about injuries then the Patriots. It looks like Best strained tendons in his toes….aka fancy words for “turf toe”. This does mean he will most likely be out at least a week if nt longer. Detroit has a tough run matchup this week against GB at Lambeau. Maurice Morris will get the start but I have no desire to play or pick him up. My advice is to ride out the Best injury and hope that he is back by week 5 against STL.

Ray Rice also injured his knee. It looks like their is nothing structurally wrong and he may have just torn some cartilage. Don’t know much bout Rice yet. Early indications is that he might be out a week or two. If that is the case then McGahee is the man to grab. Baltimore has PIT this week so I wouldn’t play McGahee. However, if Rice is still out for week 5 then McGahee would be worth playing against Denver.

Tim Hightower was a BIG bust this week. The Arizona running game is also running my nerves “raw” with annoyance. Whisenhunt said Wells would only play a bit. That was a blatent lie with Wells geting 75 yards. Wells however twisted his surgically repaired knee so his status for next week is in jeopardy. Looks like Hightower gets another reprieve in week 4 against NO. Not that I think ARI has a snowball’s shot in hell against Brees and Co. I also doubt that their running game will be effective. However, Hightower is used in the passing game and ARI will have to pass in that game. With reservation if you are in a pinch because of injuries Hightower is playable. I won’t play him because I traded Santana Moss for LT. I feel LT is a more stable play. I’ll ride the rejuvenated LT train against the pathetic Buffalo Bills.

I’ll be back later today or tomorrow with updated news and notes. Plus, this is the week 4. Week 4 is the time to go after those teams that are 0-3 and beginning to panic. Time to leverage those sell high guys (Mendenhal)¬†and take back some speculative risk in players like MJD who have played well below their potential.
