Week 2 Last-Minute, Start’em/Sit’em: You be the Judge

Will Ahmad Bradshaw pull off an Arian Foster this week versus Indy's Suspect defense?

Sunset tonight was the end of one of the Jewish High Holy Days, Yom Kippur. It is also known as the day of Judgment. On this day, Jewish people all over the world, fast refraining from eating or drinking for 24 hours to atone for the sins of the past year in the hopes of being written into the “Book of Life” for the upcoming year (YES, I am using the same theme as Matthew Berry on ESPN, but hey, it’s my freakin’ holiday too. Not like he invented it).

With that in mind, I would like to atone for telling you all to start Johnny Knox, Malcolm Floyd, Pierre Garcon, Laurent Robinson, and Jacoby Jones last week. They all did a pretty piss-poor job. I started a couple of them and it bit me too. I also told you to start Jahvid Best and that one worked out.  His yardage wasn’t great, but the 2 TD’s more than made up for it.

Conversely, I told you NOT to start (or to bench) Wells and Bush, both of whom did not even play, but at the time of the writing, they’re status was unknown.  However, I will atone for telling you to bench Moreno and McCoy. While neither blew up, they both ended up having pretty good games and decent points.  On the flipside, I told you to bench Justin Forsett and Houshmandzadeh who both sucked donkey dick.

This week I am making a sketchy call in one of my leagues and starting Maclin at Detroit instead of Bowe at Cleveland.  It’s a ppr league and even though Vick is tossing the ball to J-Mac, I think he will do well. On the other hand, Bowe sucked so bad last week and I am going to put him in the time-out chair until he gets his act together.  I may regret this decision, but FF is all about making decisions like this one.

Since I will have to wait a whole year before I can truly atone for making more start/sit errors in judgment, I better be more accurate.  With that said, here are a few more last-minute Week 2 “start’em/sit’em” picks:

START  These Guys:

Ahmad Bradshaw-Last week, Bradshaw got the lion’s share of the carries and this week he faces the defense (Indy) that allowed Arian Foster to run for 231 yards and 3 TD’s. Start him as a high #2 who could very well play like a #1 this week.

Brandon Jackson-If you picked him up this week after Grant’s season-ending injury, then the good news is that you can start him right away in a great matchup against the Bills.

LeSean McCoy-Just last week I told you to sit Shady, but this week against DET and with Vick under center, I think McCoy is a great start.

Santana Moss-McNabb and Moss connected last Monday for 77 yards on 6 receptions.  Not outstanding, but good. Add in that the Texans allowed 433 yards and 3 TD’s from Peyton Manning last week.  McNabb is no Manning, but Moss could have a 100 yards and a TD this week easy. Plus, this “start” is a special “Flukie-endorsed” start this week, so you KNOW you gotta get him into your lineup!

Mike Williams (TB)-His regular season debut wasn’t anything special (30 yards and a TD), but it showed promise.  This week, I like him as a flex option against the Panthers who gave up a bunch of yards and 3 TD’s to Hakim Nicks last week.

Sit these guys:

Ronnie Brown/Ricky Williams-This more a reflection of their matchup with the Vikings. I’m o.k. with starting Brown as a low #2 RB and am doing so in one of my leagues, but I was really close to starting Peyton Hillis over him.  That should show you how iffy I am about him this week.

Cedric Benson-Has the Ravens D that shut down Ray Rice last Monday night.  He’ll get plenty of attempts, but I don’t see him having a good week.

Hines Ward/Mike Wallace-This more a reflection of their matchup with the Titans D in Tennessee.

Michael Crabtree-His coach is a little crabby with Michael right now (I can hear your groan from here and I LOVE it).  He caught a pathetic 2 balls for 12 yards against Seattle last week.  I wouldn’t start Crabtree until he gets his head in the game.
