Have Faith in Mr Favre

In my TD only league I traded for Mr Favre. I had the unfortunate luck of having BOTH Stafford and Kolb in this league. I was lucky enough to have depth at RB with AP, Arian Foster, and Pierre Thomas. Since I’m unable to play 3 backs each week I made the difficult decision to trade Pierre Thomas for Brett Favre. All I could grab off waivers was Matt Hasselback and I just don’t believe he can take me to the promised land. He will get me through this week but Hasselback will not be a consistent fantasy performer. It’s just a matter of time until his injury concerns rear their ugly head. Favre gives me top 10 QB numbers. In a TD only LEAGUE QB’s rule the roost. That position can make or break your week. Playing waiver wire QB matchup plays is CERTAIN DEATH.

Does Favre have great WRs? No…. But I do believe that VJAX is on his way over to Minnesota. I figured I would take an educated gamble and trade for Favre. The worst case scenerio is that Favre doesn’t get help till week 8 with the reemergence of Sidney Rice. The Vikings are ALL in this year. Favre isn’t coming back (or is he?!?!?) so this their last chance for Super Bowl glory. The entire makeup of the team changes next year. Hence why I would not trade for VJAX in a dynasty league. If VJAX lands in Minnesota then he is a half a year wonder. I can’t green light going for VJAX until I see what system he lands in.

I firmly believe that you can find a RB off waivers for a one week play. Remember Lynell Hamilton last year? Scored a TD one week and then disappeared to the land of irrelevance. John Kuhn may be a poor man’s Lendale White vulturing TDs from Brandon Jackson at the goal line. It happened week 1 against the Eagles. Lets see if this trend continues against the Bills.

Don’t be afraid to be aggressive. I don’t believe in the passive fantasy player. You must be PROACTIVE and make the tough aggressive moves. More often then not being aggressive in fantasy play is rewarding. Always assess your needs and have a strategy in place to be successful. We are two weeks away from the soft spot in fantasy play. By week 4 teams know what they have and bye weeks begin. This is the time to leverage your depth and capitalize on others who have bye week issues or an 0-4 start. This is the opportune time to trade to take your team to the next level. Don’t worry I’ll reiterate this in 2 weeks. Good luck this week and as usual feel free to post any last second matchup issues.

    Very good article.
I have to respectfully disagree that playing waiver wire qbs is certain death.
There’s always a matchup to exploit. Last week I played Garrard vs. Denver
and it panned out nicely. This week M. Vick is looking good as well.
So it CAN be done. But it’s scary.
    Keep it up!

@Dave S: hahaha well it’s one week. Hopefully the VJAX trade goes down and Mr Favre can be saved
