Josh Freeman QB Waiver Wire Play of the Week

Those of you that read this site early and often know that I am a big fan of Josh Freeman. My biggest concern going into this season was 1) his thumb injury and 2) his WRs. Both of my concerns have been alleviated. His thumb is a “touch sore” but he is still able to make the throw and the WRs seem to have come to play.

I love his attitude and his calm demeanor. Even if he blows a throw he stays calm and hangs in there to make the next one. This article confirms my beliefs. Not only does he have the attitude he has the stats (completed 17 of 28 passes for 182 yards with the two scores and an interception). In a PPR league he put up 20 points in a standard PPR league.

He is playing Carolina this week who gave up 33 points and Eli was able to throw 3 TDs. This is good for Freeman. As long as he keeps his poise I feel that he will be able to work the field and throw the ball with some degree of success.

Understand that if you are going to start Freeman you are going to have some INTs. That is the nature of the beast with a young QB and 2 rookie WRs. He may be a touch erractic but that is the nature of the beast. This is his second year in the NFL and at least he won’t be going throw the same butterflies as Sam Bradford. Many people are high on Bradford and think he may be a possible waiver play against Oakland. I just can’t bring myself to gamble on an unproven rookie in week 2 of fantasy play. Have some faith with Flukie’s Freeman this week.
