How Low Can You Go?

To be successful at fantasy football you need to be shrewd at making trades. Knowing when to “buy low” and “sell high” can be the difference in turning your team from a pretender. Let’s take a look at the top 5 “Buy Lows” for Week 1:

Michael Crabtree – Crabby was reportedly dogging it all pre-season. On Sunday, he failed to impress his coach with a two catch, 12 yard performance. Never fear. Even with a terd quarterback, Alex Smith, behind center, Crabtree has too much talent to stay quiet for too long. Expect a breakout soon. Very soon.

Joe Flacco – The Jets aren’t fun to play against. Ask any top receiver and they’ll tell you their least favorite destination is Revis Island. Expect things to get better soon when the Ravens travel to Cincy. The Bengals were lit up like a Christmas tree / Hanukkah bush for 3 touchdowns in the air on Sunday. Boldin should be the main benefactor.

Shonn Greene – I thought Greene was massively overrated going into drafts this season. (Let’s not forget he wasn’t even a blip on the fantasy radar until he went hog wild for the Jets during the post-season run.) Now all of the sudden, after a case of Fumblitis, people are talking about a 50-50 split between Greene and LT. I’m not buying it. Take advantage of the knuckleheads who bought into the Greene hype by nabbing him for a discount.

Mike Sims-Walker – MSW, as his friends call him, is painfully inconsistent. It doesn’t make people feel any better when promising youngster, Mike Thomas, got all of the love from David Garrard on Sunday while Sims-Walker posted a fat zero next to his stat line. Bottom line is Champ Bailey shut MSW down. It happens. But it won’t happen again soon as Garrard will force feed him the ball on Sunday. Look for a bounce back.

Dwayne Bowe – Bowe knows dropped passes. Bowe knows Coach Halley’s doghouse. Bowe knows NFL drug violations. Scott (hey, that’s me!) knows value. Bowe is still young and the best receiving talent on a promising team. Snag him before he gets his act together and replicates his impressive stats from 2008.
