Cocky Smart Starts Week 1

So I just finished my daily reading of my fav 7-8 blogs and I have seen one trend repeated over and over. Tim Hightower is a MUST START this week. One site has Hightower ranked #2 right behind Chris Johnson. This is well ahead of EVERY other proven back out there. Wells is going to play VERY sparingly today (if he even gets any snaps at all). St Louis has the worst run defense in the league (based on 2009 numbers). Hightower and Wells together torched them for 330+ yards and 3 TDs last year. This bodes VERY well for Hightower. Hightower is also very involved in the passing game and I could see Anderson dumping the ball down to Hightower if need be. Start Hightower with confidence and feel like a fantasy rock star when he performs.

Johnny Knox and Jabar Gaffney are definite starts. I will say that many websites have moved them up in the rankings in the last 24hrs. Knox has a good matchup against Detroit. The DET/CHI game is going to be a offensive love fest. I feel confident that Knox has 80 yards and a TD. Thats at a minimum.

I have been high on Gaffney for months and JAX is a weak opponent (not that DEN is anything special). JAX may win this game but DEN will be forced to throw the ball early and often. Especially because Moreno is not 100%. Gaffney is one of the only receivers that has played all through camp. Meaning Orton and Gaff should have no problems finding each other on game day. I expect 12 catches, over 100 yards, and 2 TDs from Gaffney.

If you are looking for a defense match up play it looks like the best bet is Cleveland(vs TB), Tennessee(vs OAK), and Arizona(vs STL).  Hope this helps during your final looks for game time.

Great photo! I was hoping Hightower would put up bigger stats. Good call on Gafney who knew the Broncos would have a solid fantasy passing numbers in Week 1.

Thanks 🙂 Don’t worry I’ll keep the hot football chicks coming…. Gaffney is my boy… He is my mancrush. I firmly believe his numbers will continue to improve. I’m starting him in 3 leagues….that is how confident I am!
