First Fantasy Points in the Book

Game one in the book. As Scotty P predicted the scoring was minimal. It was a shock to me. Only Shiancoe had great fantasy numbers – 4 catches, 76 yards, and 1 TD. I could not have predicted that one but in a sense I should have seen it. The only player Favre trusts when coverage is tight is Shiancoe.

Brees was kept in check with under 300 yards and only 1 TD. He would have had 2 TDs if Robert Meachem could learn how to catch. I have to eat a bit of crow because Pierre Thomas only had 19 carries, 71 yards, and 1 TD. They were respectable RB1 numbers but I expected more. AP had 19 carries for 87 yards. Pedestrian by AP standards.

It was nice to finally see some football but the game was too defensive for my likings. Didn’t see too much to help us in fantasy except for a possible glimmer of hope in Camarillo. He is by no means worth a pickup but someone to keep an eye on. Where oh where did my Percy Harvin go? Very disappointed by his showing – 1 catch for 12 yards – and he gave us NOTHING in special teams – 2 returns for 41 yards.

Bernard Berrian was straight up embarrassing with 1 catch for 3 yards. I hope he gets his act together if he thinks he is going to be a WR1 while Rice is wounded. I have some concern with the Vikings passing offense. I see why they were desperate enough to bring Javon Walker in for try outs. I think the passing game will get a bit better once Favre is up to snuff but after this game I have concerns about starting Favre week to week. It looks like AP will have to pound the rock to get the Vikes back to the NFC championship game.

As for New Orleans I’ll get a better feel for their offense after they play SF next week. My gut says they will be just fine.
