Wide Load

In a 12 team PPR league when you can start up to 3 wide receivers, if you can draft Andre Johnson ($25), Calvin Johnson ($17), Greg Jennings ($16), and Steve Smith, Panthers ($10), you would be looking pretty good, right?

Well, the problem is my current starting quarterback is scheduled to be either Matt Cassell or Matt Leinart. Bleach. Even worse, since I was unable to obtain a solid tight end, Heath Miller will have to do for now.

I do feel good about the running backs I obtained. Stealing Charles ($12), Best ($7), and McFadden ($2) for a hair over twenty bucks allowed me to go wide receiver bonkers. I also got Chester Taylor, McGahee, and Lynch for only a buck each. (I’ll be happy if one hit.) Don’t forget, I only need to play one running back each week.

While it might look like Doomsday for me, the end result of nabbing 4 of the top 10 wide receivers is that I feel confident that the rest of the league will be scrambling for my services.

Take one guy’s team, Revis Island. He couldn’t pass up Philip Rivers for $15. The problem is he already owned Brees for $25. With $40 invested in two quarterbacks, you can imagine how thin he is at running back at wide receiver.

So the big question is: Who is more desperate (me vs. the league) and who will blink first? Is there more pressure on me to grab a serviceable QB or is it on everyone else who needs to upgrade at WR, a position you need to play at least two every week? Time will tell.
