Top 175 Players With a WR Spin

This is crunch time boys. The next 3 weeks are CRUCIAL for fantasy psychos like myself. I wait ALL year for these 3 weeks. I examine EVERY preseason game for diamonds in the rough. I pause TiVO, rewind, and watch in slow mo for every subtle hint. Last night’s hint was how Palmer leaned every so slightly to TO and not Ocho Cinco.

I then read EVERY blog, news article, paper, and sports website for the secrets that others miss. For instance hopping on Hary Douglas when Jenkins went down. Jenkins is out for 4-6 weeks with a shoulder injury. My fantasy instincts say this is the excuse Atlanta needs to bump Jenkins down a notch. Jenkins had his chance and did not produce opposite Roddy White. If you believe the Matt Ryan hype that he has “studied Peyton Manning and Tom Brady” all offseason then we have a chance for greatness with Harry Douglas. Yes, I am dreaming but let me indulge for just a second. I’m amped up! You are reading the man who found Eddie Royal and Pierre Garcon their rookie year. I also picked up Miles Austin a week before his break out game. Either I’m just incredibly lucky or my “subtle” hints mean something. Read me this season and you be the judge.

So with no further delay here is my TOP 175 rankings of fantasy football players. Understand EVERYONE does lists. I however am one of the few sites that creates a TOP 175 skewed for a WR approach. Whereas I minimize the reliance on the running back. I geared this TOP 175 towards a 3 WR 1 RB set in a PPR league. I hope this helps ya’all and feel free to ask questions and open up the debate.

I was inspired today by the special I’m watching on NFL network currently “Missing Rings: 1998 Minnesota Vikings” – Randall Cunningham, a rookie named Randy Moss, and a grisly veteran Chris Carter. This team helped to define my fantasy football stance. Wide Receivers are the fantasy game changers not Running Backs. No matter what Doc (www.football.razzball.com), Walt (www.walterfootball.com), or the boys at www.fftoolbox.com say I will always and have always believed the 3 WR 1 RB set is superior in a PPR or TD/Yardage league. Understand that the RB’s need to catch the ball in my system to employ the flukie mentality.

Solid List Fantasy Fluckie. What about Craig Buster Davis where does he fall in?
Can you ask that other guy seth to do a follow up to RB handcuff Heirchy, I would love to see his take on WR handcuffs.

  2. The Fantasy Flukie says:

Buster Davis is worth a flier in round 15….nothing earlier however. I am still not convinced of his value. As for Seth I’ll pass along the message.

  3. Logan says:

Why has Ryan Grant fallen so far?

I guess I just don’t get how Matthews, Greene, Charles, Pierre Thomas, Wells, Mendenhall are ranked higher considering they will share carries on a level that Grant likely won’t.

Is it just that he is not very prolific receiving out of the backfield or are there injury worries or something I’m not aware of? Or something else?

  4. fantasy flukie says:

@Logan – It’s twofold. 1) Ryan Grant does not catch passes and this list was formulated for a PPR league w. a WR lean. Matthews, Charles, Mendenhal all catch passes. Thomas doesn’t catch the ball but I just feel he has a greater upside then Grant. Everyone says Wells will have a breakout year so i fell for the hype. 2) Grant screwed me last year so I’m a little bit annoyed. Sorry I have to admit my experiences w. players affect my rankings.

All that being said Grant is a safe pick. He doesn’t catch many balls but he will get the ball at the goal line. But just like I say I prefer a WR on a pass first team – I prefer a RB on a run first team. So that is why i ranked him lower. You could agrue that i slighted him….hope that helps

  5. fantasy flukie says:

@Logan – But I will say that Grant does have a favorable playoff schedule if you are looking that far ahead.
