It’s a Tate New World

So in this every changing fantasy football landscape 3 Tate’s emerge as players. The obvious is Golden Tate. A WR with Seattle that I have a HUGE man crush on. If there is one thing I know about the Pete Carroll its that he is an offensive genius. With NOTHING at WR except for an over the hill, cocky as hell, declining skill-set player known as TJ  Houshmandzadeh the door is WIDE OPEN. Open for an equally as cocky rookie with the name beginning with Gold. Golden Tate will be as good as gold in Seattle. I have high hopes for this young man. With a legit combo in running backs in Julius Jones and Justin Forsett they will force defenses to stay honest. This will leave the big burner plays open for Golden to shine. Feel confident to draft him by round 5 and expect low WR1 to high WR2 numbers.

Ben Tate plays for the running back anti-christ known as Gary Kubiak. The man I will never forgive for benching Arian Foster in the fantasy playoffs last year. That being said Ben Tate may have some value down in Houston. The running back situation is a “bleeping” disaster and someone has to step up and be the running back for this pass happy team. I can’t trust Kubiak. I NEVER will again be burned by that man. The talking heads in fantasy are VERY high on Ben Tate and they feel he will be the starting back by September. I won’t touch him but if you are a gambler he is worth drafting late and stashing. He may end up starting as a bye week replacement and might possibly win you some games. Just remember not to play him in the fantasy playoffs because Kubiak is the ultimate fantasy screw master.

Brandon Tate is the last Tate in my mix. Very few people have heard of him. In fact I didn’t know who he was until the Boston Herald did a piece on him this week.  According to this piece Tom Brady is high on his speed and quick route running. He was drafted last year but barely played because of a knee injury he suffered at the end of his college career. By 2011 Brandon Tate and Taylor Price will be the starting WRs in New England. People know who Prince is but they missed Tate because of his injury. Tate came from a legit program in North Carolina and once he got his time to play he emerged as a viable wide out with good size ( 6’1 195lbs).  He has blazing speed and will push Holt for the WR3 spot (Yes, I have downgraded Holt to a 3 because it looks like Welker will be back sooner then expected).  Brandon Tate may not be a player in 2010 but by 2011 I project him as being a starter with an aging Brady still the QB. So I hedged my bets and grabbed Tate to go along with Mr.  Holt. If there is anything left in Holt’s tank Belichick will find it. If the tank is empty then Brandon Tate will move up the ranks faster and provide value immediately.  Some websites have referenced him as a poor man’s Percy Harvin. Heck, if he gives me Harvin’s 2009 numbers I’ll do back flips! So if you read me regulary you will thank me for the Brandon Tate pickup….flukie out!
