I’m Jonesin’

I wish you all a great holiday weekend. I spent the weekend Jonesin’ after Lendale White was cut by the Seahawks. I added Julius Jones to my roster. He was the 4th Jones to be added to my franchise. I also have Jacoby, James, and Felix. So I’ll break down my love for the Jones…

Most of you will say I’m insane for added Julius and that I will place him on waivers by October (ok those that really know me will say by August). I decided to gamble and sit on Julius during the summer months and preseason. Lendale White is DONE in the NFL in terms of fantasy value. All the hype of Lendale earning the starting gig was just that – HYPE. Now the starting RB job in Seattle is clear. The road has been paved and it is ALL Justin Forsett. Julius Jones will be relegated to back up duty.

The ONLY upside for Jones to excel is injury. We all know that Leon Washington is coming back from a compound fracture and may not be fully up to speed by the start of the season (injury #1). Washington will most likely be the 3rd down back once he is ready. Julius Jones is simple insurance and may fill in during 3rd downs until then. If Forsett goes down (hypothetical injury #2) Jones is thrust into the starting job. There is the off chance that Jones may get the goal line carries. If that does occur Jones may also have value. So with White out of mix Jones might be that prize in the Crackerjack box.

My love of Jacoby Jones comes from one of my favorite blogs – www.football.razzball.com – Doc does excellent fantasy analysis. He feels (and I share his view) that Jacoby Jones will break out this year. It is his 3rd year and a contract year. This makes a great recipe for fantasy success. Granted, various websites have him anywhere from a WR2 to a WR5 on the depth charts. I just don’t believe Kevin Walter is all that good and I’m frankly shocked he resigned in Houston. At the bear minimum AJ will miss a game or two and Jacoby becomes a bye week fill in.

Last I checked Donald Driver still isn’t in a wheelchair. So this means James Jones will have to wait another year before truly getting to line up across from Greg Jennings. When that time comes Jones will be worth waiting for. I have Driver on my roster and I have Jones as insurance. Being the 3WR on a pass first team however is still very helpful. I love WRs on pass first teams and James Jones will have a better year then Jacoby. Mark my words. James also is in his 3rd year which is ALSO a contract year. It’s s**** or get off the pot for Mr. Jones. Let’s not forget Rodgers threw from 4400 yds last year and James has 400 of them. Those numbers are bound to go up.

There is no need to even explain Felix Jones. He is the 1RB in Dallas. He is the most explosive back on their roster. He will be in the top 10 of RBs at year end. I don’t believe any of Jerry Jones hype that Barber is looking better then ever. If that was the case then Jerry Jones (yet another Jones) would have kept Barber as the starter. The ONLY thing that can hold Felix back is injury.

So if your Jonesin’ this weekend I hope this filled your craving.

Flukie you are off base. Julius Jones runs like their is gum on his shoes. A waste of a roster spot.
