Fantasy Rookie WR’s 2010

Well here is my initial breakdown of the 2010 wide receiver rookies and their fantasy impact.

Dez Bryant (DAL) – This one is obvious. EVERYONE knows about him and his mom. Not gonna waste me time here. He will be starting week 1. DRAFT him- nuf said.

Demaryius Thomas (Den) – NOT sold on him. His hands are not great and has issues with route running. That being said there isn’t much competition in Denver with the likes of Gaffney, Stokely, and Z receiver Royal. Draft  him with caution but he is a rookie with impact potential and horrific quarterback play.

Golden Tate (Sea) – People are comparing him to Steve Smith in Carolina. Big praise for a rookie. He will suceed not because he is the next Smith but because the wide receiver corps in Seattle is worse then Denver. He will also start opening day and will be a stud with the potential of Deshawn Jackson.

Arrelious Benn(TB) – he will start this season. He should be worth a 4th spot on a deep fantasy team. He isn’t the wide receiver I love from Tampa. He comes next. Benn is overrated on a crap team.

Mike Williams (TB) –  He is my orgasm. He might start with Benn. That is if Reggie Brown doesn’t beat him out. Remember Brown that overrated overpaid wide receiver from Philly? I hope that Mike Williams will
earn a spot in the starting lineup by week one.  He’s 6-foot-2, 220 pounds, a NFL size receiver in my books. I”m drafting him in every league I can get him. I’m not drafting him early. I’m looking to get him in rounds 9-11.

Damian Williams (TEN) I already sung his praises in my previous post. I like him a great deal. But the classic problem exists a good WR on a run first team! Bad combo. Draft him in dynasty/keeper leagues but not in traditional PPR redraft leagues.

Brandon LaFell (CAR) –  6’3″ and weighs in at 211 pounds the size of an NFL WR. He may garner some playing time. In fact he may even start. But again I despise WRs on run first teams. Draft at your own risk. I personally won’t touch him.  He is a legit option to replace Muhsin Muhammad. LaFell has good hands and has some speed.

Armanti Edwards (CAR) – 5’11 181lbs. A small frame and a conversion from QB in college has the recipe for a bust.

Mardy Gilyard (STL) – 6’0 187lbs . He is light but he could be a better version of  “Todd Pinkston”. Good height, quick, dedicated, and used to live in a car! What else could you ask for. I would draft him as a last round flyer. Temper expectations.

Marcus Easley (BUF) – Has no value in traditional fantasy play. Will start the year on special teams.

That’s the WR review. RB rookies to come tomorrow or Monday.
