Mike Furrey Waiver Wire Week 5

Edwards is no longer a Brown. Welcome to the big city Braylon! Hopefully he doesn’t go popping anymore friends of susperstars. Don’t look at Edwards as a major fantasy contributor this year. Just think back to last year’s Roy Williams. It is difficult to learn a new NFL offense on the fly. Edwards will help the NYJ in the future and was worth obtaining. But he will be a fantasy bust this year. That being the case and the learning curve that Stuckey will go thru Mike Furrey moves up the depth charts in Cleveland.

According to sportsline Furrey is the possession receiver now in Brown’s country. In a PPR league this moves him up on the rankings. Derek Anderson is now throwing the ball. Don’t forget that two years ago he was an All Pro. Mangini has finally regained his magic and went with the intelligent choice at QB. I also recommend Anderson as a bye week replacement if you have Brees and Rivers on a bye (like myself). Harrison has shown some flashes of brilliance. It looks like Mangini now has a real QB/RB/WR combination. If I were a betting man the Brown’s have turned a corner. Can we say an 8-8 season? I know it seems like a stretch but is a possibility.

All the hype in fantasy for the Browns has gone to the rookie Mohamed Massaquoi. Did Massaquoi have a monster game? YES. Do I think this will continue? NO. He may develop  into a deep threat but at this moment in time I feel that Furrey has more fantasy value. Furrey has flown under the fantasy radar only being owned in 3% of sportsline leagues. Pick up Furrey if you are looking for depth at WR for bye week replacements. Don’t forget he was the third option in Detroit when Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson were together. Furrey had fantasy value then and his value has just risen again. Don’t forget where you heard the advice first.  Come often and stay forever! And for all of you panicking over my advice to pickup Keenan Burton stay patient. He isn’t a bust yet it’s only been a week.
