Week One Tidbits

All and all it was a good week in fantasy football. Quick housekeeping note – the hierarchy said no to hot chicks pics on website. In all honesty it probably distracted you from fantasy football though I enjoyed it!

I admit it I screwed up. I told you that Andre Davis was a better play then Percy Harvin. Granted I did handicap that by saying Harvin could be a sleeper play. Harvin scored 18 pts in my PPR league and Davis has a mere 2 pts. To be honest there was no way I thought the NYJ D would be that effective. Hopefully it was the first game jitters and HOU makes the adjustments they need to. I have Matt Schaub in one of my leagues and he didn’t light up the world this week. I also told you Boldin wouldn’t play and he surprised me. It didn’t matter much because he was ineffective. I was shocked however that Breaston didn’t go. It’s my first year blogging my every thought so bare with my mistakes. My perks are better then my busts. I did predict the SF victory.

I will also be the first to tell you don’t be convinced that Harvin is a great play in week 2. I’m still on the fence. He did make a nice TD catch but don’t forget Berrian was injured. Harvin scored many points due to his kickoff returns. This is reminiscent of Devin Hester before he became a starting wide out. I still start Earl Bennett or Laurent Robinson over Percy Harvin week 2.

Laurent Robinson and Earl Bennett put up 14 pts each in a PPR league. Considering they were two of my sleepers they gave good value for a late round picks! The Cadillac Williams pickup also paid dividends week 1 as he scored 16 pts in a PPR league and 7 pts in a TD only league. Reggie Bush was also the right play over Portis.

So after one week of fantasy play I went 2-2-1. I can’t complain because without Romo’s monster game I would have lost and not tied in my TD only. I want to make sure no one sounds the alarm bells. It is week 1. Repeat, it is only week 1! I will give you waiver wire pickups that I feel our valuable. Today is the day to begin those evaluations. Many of you just made mistakes on who to start and who to bench. Others need to make a few pickups. Either way we will work it out. Fantasy Football is here and we have so much to chat about. If you need any advice feel free to reach out and post for advice. No question is too small.

Sorry I didn’t post Monday. I don’t believe in posting Mondays. Besides the fact I am always hung over after football Sunday it is a fantasy day of rest! Most of us have players going Monday night and I don’t believe in analyzing the next week until the current week is complete. That being said it is now Tuesday!

Rivers and Brady both looked a bit rusty Monday. The key of a good fantasy QB is the recovery late in the game for both QB’s. Both will be studs this year so if you have one of them sit back, relax, and enjoy the popcorn (or in my case the Busch Light) you made a good pick!

I’ll have any hot pickups or big fantasy news throughout the week so come back and check in for the “hot reads.” On a sidebar do you think Hightower is for real or a one week wonder? Or a result of Wells inexperience?
