Defense Kicker Waiver Wire Pickup / Daily News and Advice

If you are like myself you are reviewing your roster to make sure there are no mistakes. At this point I start casually looking to pickup a defense and kicker and grab any players that were missed during the draft. In 3 out of 5 of my leagues the Washington DEF and John Casey were out there. I grabbed both. Kasay is a solid #1 K and Washington’s D is on the upswing. Washington does have a tough match up week one against the NYG. Granted NYG are a division rival so I do believe the D will be ok. If you are a nervous nellie you might want to grab the AZ Defense for week 1. They have a favorable matchup in SF. The AZ DEF I would use as a one week flier whereas the Washington D is a more reliable defense to count on week in and week out.
Moreno looks like he will be ready to rock week 1 for DEN. Though I wouldn’t get too excited I read an article tonight on explaining how the offense line is not built for the running style of McDaniel’s. This doesn’t bode well for Moreno. I had Buckhalter in a couple of my leagues but due to the uncertainty of the RBs in DEN and the fact that the O line looks shaky I dropped Buck and decided to take a flier on Brian Hartline WR MIA who just took the #2 WR gig. If you are truly psychotic you could look at the KC Chiefs and try to figure out who the #2 WR will be. I personally find that pointless bc the Chiefs will have the worst offense in the league this year. There are only two players on that team worth having- Larry Johnson and Dwayne Bowe (though he is going thru Todd Haley’s tough love program).
If you are looking for RB depth I have a bad feeling about Frank Gore in SF. They are touting him as the rock of their offense. It will be as RUN first PASS second offense. Gore ALWAYS gets hurt and with the added load Glenn Coffee looks like a great sleeper play. It’s just a gut feeling and RB isn’t my thing (you would know that if you read my columns daily) but I think it’s worth the gamble.
A week and a half till football and fantasy play!
