Results of my 1st Auction League

So my first auction draft went EXACTLY according to plan. I am currently blogging during a live traditional PPR league draft (I’ll fill you in if anything exciting happens). Currently they are still rambling on about divisions and the draft should have started 20 minutes ago. Classic example of inefficiency at fantasy football drafts.

So back to the point at hand. Understand that the cap in this league was $120 as opposed to $100 and you had to draft 18 players. So make sure you adjust the dollar values if your league is a $100 league. When my turn came up during the auction draft I bought all my sleepers for $1. Mainly because no one heard of them so I got them all without a fight. My sleepers for a $1 were: Earl Bennett, Laurent Robinson, David Clowney (who btw is the 2nd WR for the NYJ), Austin Collie, and Mike Goodson (great grab bc of injuries in CAR). As I said I would I shocked the room by going out HUGE for two players- LaDainian Tomlinson ($30) and Philip Rivers ($25). No one even attempted to raise the value of those two players. Mainly because they were all shell shocked that I offered that kind of cash. I may have over paid a touch for those two but I made the money back in the later rounds when everyone else was broke.

As the draft went on I got Fred Jackson $3, Buckhalter $2, Reggie Bush $9, John Carlson $2, Clinton Portis $4, Marshawn Lynch $5, Schaub $4, Anthony Gonzalez $5, Ryan Longwell $1, and Minnesota DEF $2. As you can see this were GREAT values that I took as the rounds went on. I saved my dollars by taking my sleepers when it was my turn to draft.

So this me money to power play for the #1 WR that I wanted. I drafted Colston for $17.

I hope this hopes those that have an auction this w/e. I feel this is a sure fire strategy to my successful in an auction environment. Next I will post the results and approach for the draft that I am currently in. For those who want to wet their pallet I had pick 8 of a 12 person league and my first 3 picks were: Randy Moss, Drew Brees, and Ray Rice.
